The fox greeted that the crow was the queen of the birds and told the crow all the nice things about her about how glossy her feathers were and how bright her eyes were.

This story was good but the crow lost its cheese and that was sad because it was its food

This book was good so it should be for ages from 6-10.

This fable is very significative because
the animals in the fable represents people
in reality. so the fox represents a smart
person and the crow represents a naive
person that enjoys with beautiful words
that others says to him, but that are not
true. so this is an important lesson for
everyone. It learns us don't believe to

That is good story for child. That's so funny thus exciting and many children can know flatterers's bad meaning. I want to read this stroy to my child but I don't have any child. ( I want to make girl friend........ :-) )
This stroy helps to increase English skill and moral action.

“This a funny story and I really like this kind of stories. This story was written by Aesop. He was excellent teacher. He knows to teach children with short story. The author of this story gives us one learning for the future because it shows that you can’t trust people that you don’t know congratulate. I think you most never trust in people that tell you lie because flatterers only need one opportunity to get advantage of you and your generosity. Also in our daily life we can see the people that like foxes and crows. Although we know the fox is a fraud, we also trust it. So I think people must change their attitudes for the flatterers. I recommend this amassing short story to everyone.

This fable The Fox and The Crow was written by Aesop. I liked this fable because it was easy for everybody to understand. It wanted to teach us not believe in flatterers because they will say or do some good things for their purposes that are not good. If you trust in them, you will lose something. Be careful a flatterer. I rated this story four stars because the beginning of this story is not good, but after that content is good.

In our society, there are many people like the fox and the crow and there are many fraud. Swindler used to flatter the client. Because the client have something they need. Whenever they need something, they used to tell lies and prase. So I think I would better not belive someone I don't know.
 Posted 2009-08-12 15:30:36

In reality, crows (as true with any bird) can absolutely sing without needing to open and close their beaks. They have no vocal chords and instead use the muscles in their necks to create noises. They are perfectly capable of 'singing' while still holding cheese or a nut in their beak and not dropping it. My parrot (Congo African Grey) always talks and sings while eating her food and never misses a beat or drops her food.

This fable has always bothered me for that reason! I realize it is just a fable though....
 Posted 2009-08-06 06:17:59

why it didnt have a picture

I liked this story because it’s not only a funny story but also tells us an important thing. We already know it’s NOT a clever thing to believe someone easily, BUT we’re still gullible! Why? Because everybody likes to be praised! So, we have to be careful anytime, especially when someone praise us a lot. Don't forget that we shouldNOT believe everyone.

 Posted 2009-02-09 05:54:57

My name Tuan Nguyen, i read this story for a duty. however, i really like this one because it happened usual in our life. and rarely there is anyone can recognize a real purpose be hided under the compliment, so they often easily be cheat by a flatterer. i also have gotten one time that taught me a hurt lesion.
 Posted 2009-02-04 19:59:11

do not easy to trust others' sweet talk....
 Posted 2009-02-04 19:52:03

I read many stories about Aesop, but this is very new. This is very short story but having impressive moral. The moral is so suitable to recent days I think.
 Posted 2009-02-02 22:24:50

what is the climax, my student thinks it is when the crow sings, but i think it is when the fox asks the crow to sing.
 Posted 2009-01-15 06:33:24

One of those stories that teach you a lesson,so it has a moral. For example all stories that have foxes, this fox is cunning and devious. Not bad ,I'd recommend it for people begginig to read.
 Posted 2009-01-15 06:31:47

This is good but it needs more umff

You have to love all people but don't trust them all.
 Posted 2008-12-11 14:34:06

This story is good and teaches you too much about the real life, about people who only want something you have or could have and then they go.
 Posted 2008-12-11 14:34:01

Well, my opinion is very simple, never trust in people that tell you lies, because flatterers only need one oportunity to get advantage of you and your generosity.
 Posted 2008-12-01 20:21:41

This story is very old. I think all of the people heared it when they are yong. But in this society, we usually see the people that like foxes and crows. Although we know the fox is a fraund, we also trust it. So I think people must change their attitudes for the flatterers.
 Posted 2008-11-28 14:57:46

this story must serve like an experience of the true world, where somebody can lie you only because they want something that you have

 Posted 2008-10-27 14:40:00

This is a great lesson. If you feel that you don't have any specific skill, then also someone is greeting you for that skill; you should recognize that he may be a flatterer. Never trust people who expect something from you, just saying few words of compliments.
 Posted 2008-10-22 06:41:36

this is a good lesson for me. sometimes, i oftem face to the flatterers , so i have to be careful with it
 Posted 2008-10-22 05:42:03

this is a meaning story. I realy love it
 Posted 2008-10-22 05:37:23

This is the first time i read the story.Although the story is short but i think this is a meaning story. Aseop chose the animal as the major characters. This is make the story more attractive and easy for children to understand. Through this story , i draw out the lesson for myself :"Don't easy to believe the person who tell sweet talk " . All compliments that make you grateful always have purpose.
 Posted 2008-10-22 04:28:46

it's an enteresting story.i read it many times.and i really love it.also, i learn an useful lesson from it. that is :" you must know your abilities and do not trust in sweet talks easily"
 Posted 2008-10-21 12:28:53

We can't trust in any person who tell us some lovely words to obtain something to us.
 Posted 2008-10-16 22:27:23

The human race has entered a compelely new stage in this history. With the increasingly rapid economic globalization, real and honesty will be more and more important. As a saying goes ;When anyone remains modest, not after praise but after blame, then his modesty is real!

 Posted 2008-10-07 01:24:29

As my grandpa said: trusting is good but not trusting is better.
 Posted 2008-09-22 21:29:19

A short story from Aesop Fable.Though they are only fox and crow, they told us much.Flattery often sounds so good, but good advice may sound harsh. It's hard to believe everything others said.
 Posted 2008-08-26 19:11:49

I like this story. I have heard stories like this when I was little, I think this story shows people what the real word is like. Some times it is easy to trust others, but we need to be more careful.

I'm intereseted in tihs story. I have heard stories like this. And I have experienced the thing like this. I don't think I should be a person easily elated. But I don't think we aiways don't believe anyone. We should read the hidden meaning.

 Posted 2008-05-29 10:30:25

In my openion this story represents a lesson for people who believe every thing they see or hear. because this life is full of many lies and untrue matters,so,good persons should not be gullible.
 Posted 2008-05-29 10:24:14

I think this is a really good story,I learned many good things from it and I think everyone felt it. In my opinion, this sory tried to show you not to believe or trust anything someone tells you.

it is a good stroy about spoiling and intelligence. some wins with their brain and some loses with their heart. as a result we must be careful abaut people who try to cheat us.
 Posted 2008-04-25 23:51:20

I really love this story; I think this story is perfect. I heard this story from my grandma when I 5 years old. This is the first time to read the story by myself. I feel this story shows people what the real world like. Do not be gullible; easy to trust other people are not a fun thing to do, because most of time you will got hurt. I hope after read the story, reader can learn and remember the moral “Do not trust flatterers” (the fox and the crow).
 Posted 2008-04-21 19:43:52

I think, the story reviled a fascinated way of teaching everyone a very important lesson, when someone thinks they can manipulated the good will of the people telling lies, and see them self in a tight situation. no matter what, you would not be trusted again . Consequently to that, expel and ignored .
 Posted 2008-04-21 08:48:04

The story was very interesting. When i finished reading the story I thought that it was a little senseless, but after that I realized that the last comment of the fox was very real. Nowdays, we can´t trust in the words of the people because we can see faces but not their hearts. The crow was very innocent and the fox took that chance to get the cheese. Anyway, this fable give us a really important moral.
 Posted 2008-04-08 12:49:09

I ROAD FIRST TIME THE STORY AND I LIKED I think the fox was cheaded on the cow. In my opinion fox s bad guy the cow belive the foxes prise. be CAREFUL with trust someone who wants make adventage of others people and its really nice.

this story have deeply meaning that is dont be concerned about the other person's speach cause that people might want to get something from you.
this story express definitely the meaning
 Posted 2008-04-03 15:21:58

I think this story is very interesting. Most of Aesop’s fables always have the animal as the main character and the story is not difficult for children to understand what the author wants to give them. In my opinion you can be grateful with the compliment but you don’t obsess it or believe it all. Because sometimes you may see someone who wants to trick you cause he want something from you like the fox in this fable.
 Posted 2008-04-03 13:50:48

This story gives us valuable advice. The fox cheated the crow. Absolutely a fox is a bad guy. But I think that the crow also bad because he uncritically believe the fox's praise. Don't trust easily someone who suddenly appears front of you adulate you. He/She may be a cheater. we should try to doubt strange toady.
 Posted 2008-03-31 02:28:37

First of all, I want to thank the author who made this great short story.Thought of hearing this story before but am glad I have able to read it again! Now that I have kids, I feel the need to read this to them.

• I gave 5 stars because even though I had already heard this FABLE is very true, and we must put into practice. Also when I saw the various comments I understand that many are aware of this FABLE. But for some people is fun but it really is a good moral education. Us to be ready when we are in this situation.

It's a very funny and a serious story. The auther use clever fox to deceive the dull crow, it's very vividly. this store told us comliment is not credible. someon can do everything for something they want. so today, we must be cery carefully in the community. remember: good advice is harsh to the ear; faithful words grate on the ear.

This story is about something happened between a fox and a crow. There was a fox under the tree. When it was looking for food for itself,it saw a crow setting on the tree with a piece of cheese in its mouth. The fox wanted the cheese of the crow.So it thought a way to get the cheese by cheating. This story ia great. It teaches us that do not thust anyone easily, and you should know who you are, what you have able to do.

I heard this story when I was a little girl. Because I heard this story so when someone commend me, I will to thing about that because I don't want I will be deceived by someone. I think this is a very good story because this story can tell the person who like listen praise, do not do that. I know every people like commend, but when someone to praise you, you should to think about why! Like this story crow just lost a piece of cheese maybe it wasn't a big problem ,but if you don't paly attention, maybe you will lost something very important to you even your life.

the story provides me with a helpful advice about the belief. We should put our belief exactly. We especially don't trust the flatters because they are not good for us. The persons who always tell flatterers won't tend to help you but they just want to get benefits from their flatters.

The moral is really true because you don’t have to trust in the first person you find.

Hi! My name is Jong-Min. I'm from Korea. I think that this story's moral is; "Don't brag! When someone praise you. You shoud humility!" Because of Fox's praise, Crow miss the chance. When you read this fable, you think about yourself. This fable fit me. So i like this story, Because i realized myself. So i can see something to improve myself. Thank you Aesop!

Hello I am Seyeong from UW ESL.
Actually, this story was my first fable that I read in English.
It is extremely short compared to other stories though, I think it has alot of moral.
Basically, most people want to look better than they are.
Therfore, if poeple who are around you tell you only good things, it is very easy to be tricked by them.
Don't trust someome easily, especially becasue of your desire to be better than you are.
I think this kind of fable always can show us how we should live our lives~!

The more our mind change easily, the more you experience many things. So, you need your firm belief, or you are influenced by the surrouding easily.
 Posted 2007-06-25 20:55:38

In my lifetime, we can see many people in our society. But it is difficult for us to see through their personalities and ideas. This story suggest the risks which somebody believe others easily. Since there are people to come closer to us in order to deceive us, we must be skeptic to unknowns.
 Posted 2007-06-24 03:48:08

I think this story is great. This story teaches so important thing when we communicate with another persons by such a short sentences. And, this story is not only short but humorous. I think that, thanks for this, very young children can understand this moral.

Telling him nice things so he could drop the cheese and the fox could get it. The fox was being greedy. That's why you can't trust people from what they say.

I think that is important to know this kind of fables because they always taught you something. In "The Fox and the Crow", by Aesop, they teach that we don't have to believe what people tell you.In this fable a crow has a cheese on his beak and the fox tried to steal the cheese. The fox told to the crow tha he sings pretty good. So the crow started to sing and the cheese fell down. I would like to say that most of the times they just tell you what you want to hear. Also, they're trying to take advantage of the situation, so they are like traps. I would like to say to all the people to be discrimanating and don't believe all thing people tell you. Some of the people take advantage of yours weaknesses. So be malicious and think bad.
 Posted 2007-02-13 14:23:51

I think that its important to think before you believe what people always tell you. Use your mind, because sometimes we want to hear something nice and that is why people fall in traps. I would like to advise to all people to be perspicacious and don;t believe what people say.

The Story is an good example about flatters, They just compliment us for their benefit. People can easily lie to you because they want to get what u have "they dont have". Unfortunately, People sometimes ike flatters because They want to hear sweet talking about theirselves, they want to satisfy their ego. That's why flatters appear around. So they get benefit from weak ego of people. Here is an advice " dont let the flatters to talk sweet about you because you dont need to satisfy your ego by them, You already have strong ego"

That was very random but it was quite good.

 Posted 2006-11-24 15:23:15

I think this story want to tell about
"Do not listen sweet talking."
In our life, sometime we listen sweet talking from someone, in other side we say sweet talking to someone for our benefit. We should notice when someone say sweet talking. And also we shouldn't say sweet talking to someone.

Don,t trust strangers, even if they look kind and helpful, be careful it might be only a trick to trust them.
 Posted 2006-10-19 10:11:01

I think I have heard of this story. What I learned from this story is I should not trust the people who give compliments. I think compliments are a kind of lying. I do not like to tell people a lie and I would not. It is a very good example of how bad flattery is.
 Posted 2006-10-18 21:22:23

I think this story is very good. It shows you that you can't believe someone who admire you more then you are. They are malicious people. You can use the lesson from this story in real life. This is a lesson that you should know because you don't want to lose something to somebody who deceive you.
 Posted 2006-10-18 19:35:53

This story is very useful, because we can know that not all people who say good thing, are good. For example, frauds tell you only good things, because they want you to buy their things, then they want to get money from you. When you go shopping to buy clothes, a clerk says "It suits you," because they want to sell it. People lie easily who are selfish, because they don't think others, they think only how they can be happy. As a result, people want to get something from you, they try to make you feel good. After read this story, you can know that not only good people are in the world. Hiro

We should not believe someone.
It is funny story because birds dont eat cheese. If we trust flatters we get trouble.
 Posted 2006-10-16 11:05:28

I think this story is moral.
A fox want to cheese, so he flatter to
crow. but the crow didn't know that it is lie.
The crow was really stupid but the fox
was clever and sly.
I don't forget that "Don't trust flatterers!!"
 Posted 2006-10-16 11:05:27

If your friends tell you you do something very good ,you need to believe them. If a stranger commends you too much, you must becarful, maybe this person wants to take something in your life.We don't know who is your best friend and who we can believe.
 Posted 2006-10-10 07:12:15

It is very fuuny. Also it gives people lesson that don't trust everything.
It means that you have to distinguish what is true and what is falut. Don't be cheated!!
 Posted 2006-10-10 07:05:10

I think that this story tells us how to have good relationship with many people. We should not beilive flatter's talk. But We should trust people's talk according to situation.
Because, there are many true people than flatters.

I think this story tell us taht we must have the criteria ourselves.
This fable describes the social that everyone fight each other for their profit, their authority, but do not think about the others profit, and something else.

Sometimes I don't know who should I believe. But usually I don't believe strangers or someone that I don't wanna believe. It's just easy to know. If there's trust in your mind, then believe him. But if it is not, just ignore whatever they say. But the most important thing is you should believe yourself !
 Posted 2006-09-21 19:26:39

This story is very short but has deep lesson. Sometimes we consider intention of someone's words. Because there are some people who want to take something out of our life.
But I think There are also many good people in the world. And flatterer, fox's way to decieve the crow is really cute. *^^*

many of stories of Aesop are treating animals . he usually describe a crow as a clever animal . but in this story the crow is deceived by a fox for his flattery . we can't speak critically of the fox . always have be careful of other's too much praise .
 Posted 2006-06-25 10:25:11

The storise tell us to be careful with anybody even it to close to you.
 Posted 2006-06-14 18:38:52

Sometimes people believe stranger's saying easily. It makes mistake, and bad result. I think we shoud consider about other people's flatters, even thouh it is so nice to hearing. Becaus some people say "you are so nice , so beautiful" like that when they want to something from that person. So we have to be careful when we listen to that from other people who are not closely with you.
 Posted 2006-06-12 02:15:01

This story"The Fox and The Crow" is a usefull. But I think this fable is a little wrong. Because it is important for people to believe each other people. Flatterers not say compliment at all. Then it's a bit much" Do not trust flattrers." Rather "Watch out for flatterers."
 Posted 2006-05-31 11:36:16

the story was okay it wasn't my favorite but it was interesting.
 Posted 2006-05-31 08:47:20

This was a short fable that taught a good lesson.I think that the crow wasn't thinking when she opened her mouth. The fox was wrong to trick her like that.It was an obvious ending though. The fox is almost always the bad guy, and is always tricking somebody. The crows character wasn't as predictable, because the crow is usually the trickster also.I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.
 Posted 2006-05-31 08:43:12

It was all right but it could have a little more intresting plot and maybe more characters
 Posted 2006-05-29 12:12:42

I think that it is a funny story, because the crow didn't aware of tricking of the fox. People are often tricked when people are praised. We should be careful flatters. He know our week points. Besides he can trick us easily. So we mustn't beleive easily a person who can praise us well.
 Posted 2006-04-28 12:15:23

In my opinion is a great fable, because show us how a fox had a objetive there is ate the cheese who had the crow, and the fox manipulate the crow by flatterers and the crow feels that the fox is a great person and the moment in she openned her mouth fell the piece of cheese, the fox he made it what he want, and show the crow that "Do not trust flatterers."

In this fable "The Fox and The Crow", we can learn good lessons. First one, do not show off your property because you would be a target from swindlers. Second, have a doubt about sweet words. Maybe there is a negative intent behind them.
 Posted 2006-04-10 01:47:59

to me this fable is entartainig somone while making us laughed because the things is happening between the animals it was an analogy pscologially but still mssing because may be some childen can read this fable but later on he or she or they cannot understand what is going on between the human beings they just suppose that these things can only occur between the people thats all but generally it is good to make the event occuring concreet

Some people believe in others because they fall for sweet talks. This fable is also an example of hypocrisy. We have to be cautious, not only with strangers but also with people we know. Not every one you trust is your friend. And not every you may want to believe in wants your trust for good.
 Posted 2006-03-30 12:59:47

I think the fable was true and a very strate to the
piont one too. You really can 't trust people that
are overly nice to you its all ways to good to be
true. The sad thing about the story is that the crow
want through some work to get that peace of
chesse and all want away buy on clever fox.

This story abour a fos and a crow is find of funnu. It gives us an illustrated example of this moral. His moral is to not do what a flatterer ask us. Miss Crow did exactly the opposite of that. In consequence, she lost her piece of cheese!!!

It is true that we shouldn't trust fatterers. The story has a good moral but, the story are not this funny and could be work a little bit more. In French we have one to, and it's better. The story has more sens and the moral to.

Praise always make us happy, but I should find hidden meaning.
We also don`t trust too much person especially who like other people`s things. They want get someone`s thing, so always cheat them.
However many good people live in the word. We need distinguish them for happy life^^

As the Master Fox says we must not trust flatterers. We must not forget that the person who praises us is a forger,a liar in a great probability ,if we don't believe that we are really beautiful or we are not thought to be so much beautiful by others. Here, the crow already knew that she was not thought to be pretty by others, but she was too fool to trust in the Fox's words.

“The Fox and the Crow” is one of the best fables I have ever known. It was written by Russian fabulist Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (1769-1844). This famous fable was translated and prosed from verse into different languages. The author satirizes the human frailty. I think this fable is a good example of a real situation in our life, where sometimes we become a victim of a “Fox”. We should beware of flatterers. People who say nice things about you as a trick are not your friend. They just expect to get something from you.
