This was exceptionally written, exquisitly
detailed and thought provoking. I had never
stopped to examine all that happens in my
mind when I want to make a purchase. I never
make impulse buys. Maybe I need to and no,
not an owl. Ha ha

What a fantastic story I began to cry at multiple times because it really relates to my life! I wish I could communicate with Peter on a Personal level so we can discuss more in depth the conplexity of his words.

As an aspiring writer, I hope to write this well. It is such a story I hope to create someday. Well done.

Joan Harrison took Henry England to be etc.

What a wonderful, heart-warming story! In a way, it is the answer to the question of whether it is a certain (material) thing that "brings" luck into one's life, or it is the owner, inspired by its beauty eventually creates that luck himself/herself. I think, the craft of the man who had made the Owl found its way to Joan (in the Owl's stare), and inspired her into making beautiful things...

Delightful! I'm going to find a large wooden owl, buy it and give it to my girlfriend with a copy of this story as a token of my love. mj

I was captured in the first paragraph and just had to
read to the end.
Beautifully told, with delicate understatement, it is an
inspirational story and Wednesday 14 th March for me
has just brightened considerably.
Congratulations Peter on your style.
One of the best stories I ahve read on this site.

I find this piece a very imaginative, creative and yet delicate read. It invigorates the essence of life. It allows the reader no time for displacement.
Exceptional piece.

Good one Peter Perkins, your story rolls smoothly along its unpredictable rails, and you want to discover its final destination all the time. IB

I agree with the people who say this is the best story on the site. It made me laugh and cry and feel human again.

Inventive and surprising with many if not all of it's sentences. I think the best thing I've read so far on your wonderul site.

A very beautiful story ...and so simply told !!! And now I want an Owl !!!! I particularly like that sentence ,`Her head should have taken her away...l, but her heart took her right in...' -- Jo (from United Arab Emirates)

Lovely story. The type that makes you feel all tingly, if you know what i mean
 Posted 2003-03-13 08:15:42

Peter, this is probably the best story on this site. I'd like to see more of your work.

Was captivated by the start, excited by the middle, sadly dissapointed by the end. Was this originally to be a longer piece ? The glimpses of brilliance at the start of the story set a high bench mark, sadly not lived up to.

I have alway's been interested in tawny owls and like the lady in the story was inspired into opening up my own company called Tawny Cleaning.I have been going for three months now and most of my previous customers with the company I was employed with have ask me to clean there premises and things look good for the future.
