Fred Melden is an Oregonian who took up writing 15 years ago, after an early retirement. For eight years, he organized and hosted the monthly Conversations With Writers events in Hillsboro, Oregon. His previously published books include the non-fiction Education Goals and American Values; the poetry chapbook, Rewriting My Fictions; Counterbalance, a novel; and two collections of short stories: What Fell Off the Truck; and New Lies in Old Bottles.
