The Tortoise and the Hare

The Hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. "I have never yet been beaten," said he, "when I put forth my full speed. I challenge any one here to race with me."

The Tortoise said quietly, "I accept your challenge."

"That is a good joke," said the Hare; "I could dance round you all the way."

"Keep your boasting till you've won," answered the Tortoise. "Shall we race?"

So a course was fixed and a start was made. The Hare darted almost out of sight at once, but soon stopped and, to show his contempt for the Tortoise, lay down to have a nap. The Tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the Hare awoke from his nap, he saw the Tortoise just near the winning-post and could not run up in time to save the race.

Then the Tortoise said: "Slow but steady progress wins the race."

I wish this idea would stop getting used so that people like the one two above would actually know something, same with the boy who cried wolf, too little people know it was aesop, everyone thinks that everything is grimms. Search on here for bierce and check out his hare and tortoise story, much better moral: If it is out of your league, dont attempt to complete it.

Ive heard this fable before. I think its famous around the world. Its simple however its moral is so important because, sometimes, at work, at school or anywhere, people are so boastful and always laguh others. For me, this fable is valuable for all ages(children and adults).

I liked this story because it shows how people usually act on certain situations. Sometimes, people like the hare are so arrogant because they think they are better than someone else, and laugh at others. But sometimes it happens the beater gets beaten. You never have to undervalue the abilities of others. It is better to be patient at doing things than do it fast because it might not come out well.

This fable "The Tortoise and The Hare" written by Aesop which has the tortoise and the hare as the major characters; for me is one of the best fables, because it shows how the people who is really persistent has more chance to get what they want that people who falls down and then give up in their goals.

The fable “The Tortoise and the Hare” was written by Aesop. The setting is the fixed course where the race takes place. The two major characters are the Hare and the Tortoise. I considered this fable excellent. I gave 5 starts because I enjoyed reading the story and I think that the moral is good. The moral is that not always the fastest wins the race but the smartest and the most perseverant.

I loved this story because he teach me how not to be an arrogant person when I have the advantage, because even the person you never expected can win. I liked it too, becuase is fun to see how a turtle can win a hare. In the other hand, this fable teach you how to be constant in all the things you do in real life. Even this fable is an old one, nowdays children read it and used it in their lives. Finaly, I think this is the best fable I have ever read.

I don’t know why this story is posted, when everybody knows it. Anyone can regurgitate this story. My eight-year-old daughter could write the same story down right now just as well. Plagiarizing this story shows no amount of talent, I have absolutely no idea why it was posted.

I have already heard of this story in a cartoon show.I really loved it alot because it does not talk only about to get rid of every thing in your life but it shows also that you dont have to show off because you will lose at last.
