The Boy Who Cried Wolf

A shepherd-boy, who watched a flock of sheep near a village, brought out the villagers three or four times by crying out, "Wolf! Wolf!" and when his neighbors came to help him, laughed at them for their pains.

The Wolf, however, did truly come at last. The Shepherd-boy, now really alarmed, shouted in an agony of terror: "Pray, do come and help me; the Wolf is killing the sheep"; but no one paid any heed to his cries, nor rendered any assistance. The Wolf, having no cause of fear, at his leisure lacerated or destroyed the whole flock.

There is no believing a liar, even when he speaks the truth.

It is important not to tell a lie.
Becuase if you tell a lie a lot
you will lose your friends and your job.
you should be honest and dont tell a lie. lying makes people feel upset and even if you tell the truth they dont believe you..

I see two things in this story.

1.Lying is highly likely to ruin your reputation.

2.It seems that people care more about who tells the truth than truth itself.

A lie told by a person with a good reputation is likely to be beleved; likewise, a truth told by a known-by-no-one is likely to be disregarded, which is why your parents (probably) did not believe what you told them when you were five.

Conclusion: You know why some people keep losing money in the stock market? Because they believe that if the stock were good in the past, it must be good now (Enron,Nortel); the opposite is also true. Ever wonder why people keeping voting for the same guy even though he may have lied more than just three or four times in the past? Sometimes some people can get a way with it...

I like this story very much, because my parents told me this story when I was a little kid. The end of the story made me think about it and finally made me try to say always the truth. I think that the end of the story is very good because it shows what happens to you if you lie several times. Moreover the story is very well to understand even for kids and could have happened to everyone everywhere. I will also tell this to my children in the future.
