The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

A Wolf found great difficulty in getting at the sheep owing to the vigilance of the shepherd and his dogs. But one day it found the skin of a sheep that had been flayed and thrown aside, so it put it on over its own pelt and strolled down among the sheep.

The Lamb that belonged to the sheep whose skin the Wolf was wearing began to follow the Wolf in the Sheep's clothing. So, leading the Lamb a little apart, he soon made a meal off her - and for some time he succeeded in deceiving the sheep, and enjoying hearty meals.

Appearances are deceptive.

The main idea for this story is - do not lie to others. You may think it is ok to lie to others but you are actually lying to yourself. If you lie to get stuff that you want, it wont last and people will find out someday. No one will ever trust you again in the end.

This stroy is good. Especilly, I think the wolf was smart. There are this sentence if you not cleaver, your body will get suffer. Also, appearances are deceptive. Therefore, you must not judge from appearances.

I heard this story when I was a child. Personally, this story is so interesting. I like it and the main idea. This story tell us that dont trust everybody easily and appearances are deceptive. If you want to live in this society, you must do everything so carefully.

The story tells of a vigilant society (shepherd & dogs)
who guards the community with protection and
awareness of the law. Yet this is a lesson to show
adults how children (lambs) are vulnerable to get the
Values from corrupt adults (wolves) who corrupts the
child (lamb), kills moral standards with violence and
greed. Values are caught, not taught!+

This story actually teaches you that you cant read a book by its cover. Yes, on the outside the wolf was a sheep; innocent, and maybe even naive, and with that knowledge, the wolf was able to kill the sheep easily. This same perspective could be set in todays society. You see, you may think you know someone, or think that someone is nice, until they turn against you, and show who they really are. The trick is though, is to learn from your mistakes, and never fall for the same situation again. I know this little peice of advice to be true, because you are reading this from someone who knows it first hand. Ive made so many mistakes, going back to the same people that have hurt me, and honestly, you shouldnt.

Haha, I realise that I am rambling on and on on something that doesnt matter. I was just trying to say that I relate to the matter.

I think this is a good story and it had a good moral "Appearences are deceptive." it moral is trying to say that you may think you know someone, until they turn against you and show who they really are. Also shows that maybe your enemy can try to be your friend for do something bad to you and I think if you want to live in this society, you must do everything so carefully because you ever are going to met people who want to fool you and doesnt care if they arent pretty outside we need to see the inside of the persons its the most important thing.

While there are some short stories which
go out and make a point in a paragraph or
two and still work, I dont think this is
one of them. Its style seems half-way
between minimalistic and colloquial.
Maybe if it was written twenty years ago
someone could have called it innovative,
but the sheep and wolf allegory is
virtually a cliche these days. This is
just my honest opinion, but I think that
the shorter and more direct a story is,
the larger the expectation and skill
involved in making it work. In this case,
neither skill nor message is present to a
large enough degree to pull it off.

Its an interesting story. It teaches that you couldnt see just the appearance, for example, some people have a good appearance and when they show how they really are, you are disappointed, so its a good advice, dont look just to the appearance.

This is an academic comment:
Dont trust in any person who you just know or you dont know. People can be deceptive when they want to achieve something. I like this story but maybe the title could be better. The fable could have been more interesting if the content had a longer explanation telling us if the shepherd could knew what happened with other sheeps.

I liked this story because is a great example of why we dont have to believe in people that we dont know because they cant be what they seem to be and we could be hurt when we know their real personality.

Hi, Im Imperio,
I like this fable. The title call me my attention because I imagine a wolf with a sheep´s clothing, the wolf is the clearly example of a person that use a costume for achieve a beneficial product. The moral is appearances are deceptive, but I add that we never trust in anybody at the first time and never follow others blindly.

There is supposed to be a part when the shepherd comes out for food for him and his family and accidentally kills the wolf by breaking its neck, thinking it was a lamb. But overall, besides some more of the skipped parts, it was a good fable. Life needs more of these

Under a similar situation, an individual who is about to be sentenced for an assault crime has changed his physical appearance from a bully skin-head shaved person to a normal individual with hair and mustache to deceive the court and avoid a harsher sentence.
Moral:
A wolf will remain will remain a wolf, regardless of the skin he wears, as his instincts may not.
