Violet by Jeremy Freese | | This fun interactive fiction won the 2008 Interactive Fiction Competition.
The premise is you are a student working on your thesis - and you've promised your girlfriend, Violet, that you'll write a thousand words by the end of the day. The catch is that all sorts of things will distract you and you'll have to find ways of concentrating on the task at hand.
The trick here is not only the very relatable scenario but also the narration, which is by Violet in the first person and gives the author plenty of scope for fleshing out her character in amusing and sometimes sweet ways. (Not insignificantly, it's also got very good built in hints, for those times when you just can't figure it out.)
